Collaborative Efforts Accelerate Joint Customers Perfect Plant Strategies
The goal of the Wonderware and SAP relationship is to enable mutual customers to align business objectives with their manufacturing operations. In August 2007, Wonderware Production Execution 1.0 packaged composite application (PCA) for MES became an SAP-endorsed business solution (EBS). In order to attain EBS status the Wonderware composite application required extensive testing; including proven standards-based interoperability between business processes that are managed within SAP business applications and plant processes that are managed within the Wonderware System Platform. The EBS status is reserved for an elite group of partners within the SAP eco-system. This achievement builds on Wonderware’s already existing status, “SAP® xApps™ Certified – Powered by SAP NetWeaver®”, attained in 2006.
This endorsement also supports the SAP certification program for ISA-95-based manufacturing interoperability. As part of the endorsement, both Wonderware and SAP provide joint development resources, exchange technology and share product roadmaps. Both companies promote the Invensys-Wonderware Production Execution PCA with joint go to market campaigns and by joint sales engagement globally.
As software leaders, Wonderware and SAP jointly solve universal problems for manufacturers by providing access to information gathered during production execution once a production schedule has been released. Some specific customer business issues that can be addressed include: limited visibility of changes in consumer behavior and demand down to the shop floor; limited ability to track batch related safety and quality parameters in real time; and difficult and costly integration to legacy systems and plant floor applications. Through the EBS partnership, Wonderware and SAP can provide faster, more agile response from the shop floor; reduce product safety risks and ensure quality standards; and accelerate time to value for deploying new shop floor systems.
