Special Edition

Wonderware has just announced three significant new product releases.

This special edition of the WonderUpdate is being delivered to bring you news of these new significant product enhancements that will help increase your productivity, efficiency and profitability though lower engineering and operating costs.

The first of these releases is the powerful combination of Wonderware System Platform 3.1 and InTouch 10.1 HMI Software.  These products deliver great new features:

System Platform 3.1

  • Enhanced SCADA functionality integrated into System Platform and InTouch enabling configurable network optimization and timestamp management to meet requirements of your particular architecture and lower network bandwidth consumption
  • Improved alarming configuration enabling detailed control of alarm behavior at runtime
  • Improved user interfaces and scripting, which will help speed development and configuration of applications

InTouch 10.1

  • Built-in string locale management for ArchestrA symbols enabling rapid configuration of applications for different language users and runtime language switching
  • New Trend and Alarm client .NET controls delivering functionality within ArchestrA symbols and enabling easy faceplate creation
  • A Self-documentation feature - where with a few clicks, users can create and publish as-built documentation of their HMI application

"In spite of a turbulent global economy, initiatives such as sustainability are continuing to drive investment in software-based performance and productivity improvement solutions across many infrastructure operations such as water and wastewater, facilities, transportation and power distribution," said Craig Resnick, research director at ARC Advisory Group. "These performance and productivity solutions, such as those built on the Wonderware System Platform 3.1 and InTouch 10.1, provide the return-on-investment and return-on-asset justification required by infrastructure operations, proven out by improvements to key performance indicators (KPIs) such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and energy consumption monitoring that is visualized on HMI software-based digital dashboards configured with InTouch software."

The next in the series of new releases is the Wonderware ArchestrA Object Toolkit, which will help accelerate innovative solutions from the Wonderware Partner Ecosystem.

The benefits you can derive from the new toolkit:

  • Completely redesigned with Visual Studio 2008 support for creating ArchestrA Application objects; VS enables IntelliSense, debugging and drag and drop design of Application Objects with the power of Microsoft's C# language
  • Helps protect your intellectual property within custom coded .NET libraries, while leveraging the power of the ArchestrA framework
  • Ability to deploy your code within ArchestrA Objects using the ArchestrA IDE.

"The Visual Studio development system is a comprehensive suite of tools designed to help software developers create innovative, next-generation applications," said Chris Colyer, Microsoft global director of manufacturing operations strategies.  "Microsoft and Wonderware offer technology tools to monitor, control and manage the plant floor as well as manufacturing control and execution systems.  This new toolkit from Wonderware gives users an extra boost in productivity when creating industrial applications."

Wonderware has also released InBatch 9.0, which can simplify complex batch operations across existing systems.

"InBatch 9.0 represents a continued commitment to the evolving needs of the batch market," said Maryanne Steidinger, MES and EMI marketing program manager for Wonderware. "Wonderware has not only taken flexible batch capabilities beyond traditional offerings, but has also provided customers easier and less costly ways to add these capabilities on top of existing automation system and PLC applications - thanks to new integration with the latest release 3.1 of Wonderware System Platform software for development and Wonderware Information Server for reporting."

InBatch software provides:

  • Enterprise-level software managing regional or global rollouts of batch processes
  • Tight integration to the Wonderware System Platform for re-usability in code, screens and templates for faster time-to-value and greater productivity
  • Best-in-class batch execution, material genealogy, batch history based on ISA S-88 standards
