Wonderware Releases Enhanced, Unified Software Solutions Built with Factelligence Software and ArchestrA Technology

Technology Integration Provides Unified MES, EMI, HMI & SCADA Operations for Customers 

LAKE FOREST, Calif., May 20, 2008 -- Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys, today announced new software solutions that are designed to enable customers to better address critical issues in manufacturing operations.  These enhanced software solutions include Wonderware Operations Software 3.4 and Wonderware Performance Software 3.4 and are evolutions of the Factelligence offerings from the acquisition of Cimnet, an MES software company integrated into Wonderware in 2007. New SQLData Components Improves Ability to Incorporate SQL Databases

 Many Supervisory HMI as well as Production and Performance Management solutions require access to and manipulation of database tables as part of an effective operator environment. The new SQLData components make this easier to implement in a production application. This release provides the functionality to improve the usability, performance, and robustness when integrating different SQLData sources and database information with the Wonderware Application Server and InTouch HMI. The following is delivered as part of this release:

• SQLDataGrid 3.0 (InTouch 10.0 HMI) is an InTouch control that is encapsulated by an ArchestrA symbol. The SQLDataGrid allows InTouch 10 and InTouch for System Platform 10.0 users to directly manipulate data residing in a SQL database
• SQLData Object 3.0 is an Application Object enhanced with the ability to select a database table or view for column mapping to ArchestrA attributes. The object utilizes the connection and transaction management infrastructure delivered as part of this project. This is an update to the SQLData object 2.1.
• SQLData Script Library is a group of scripts that simplifies the setup and manipulation of database information and takes advantage of the powerful connection and transaction management capabilities.

The script library can be used by any ArchestrA object to connect, read/write data and execute SQL commands to the following Data Sources

• Microsoft SQL Server (.NET Data Provider for MS SQL)
• Oracle (.NET Data Provider for Oracle)
• OLEDB (.NET Data Provider for OLEDB) The SQLData Components are not licensed and are available for use free of charge, but require the Wonderware System Platform 3.0 with Wonderware Application Server 3.0 or later and/or InTouch 10.0 HMI or later to execute. They will be distributed via Wonderware Customer Support Shipment and the Tech Support Web Site.   Documentation is provided in the form of User Guides for each individual component and Object Help as a part of the .aaPKG file and a Read Me file.

Potential SuiteLink Version 2.0 Denial of Service Vulnerability

 Wonderware is a pioneer in the secure use of Microsoft Windows software for industrial applications and a leader in the field of Industrial Automation security. Wonderware is also committed to active collaboration and involvement with customers and industry standards authorities to provide secure applications, security best practices, deployment guidelines, tools and prescriptive guidance for maintaining a secure automation environment.

Recently, a vulnerability was discovered in SuiteLink Version 2.0 which could potentially expose an unsecured automation network to a denial of service attempt. While there is no indication whatsoever of the existence of an exploit for this issue, Wonderware published a Technical Alert describing the issue and released a Patch in April to resolve the problem.

The vulnerability is closed in SuiteLink Version 2.0 Patch 01 and Wonderware is urging Customers to install the patch as soon as possible. More details can be found in Tech Alert 106 posted on the Wonderware Technical Support website.  Customers who have not yet signed up for access to the Wonderware Technical Support website can register free of charge to read the Tech Alert and receive the patch.
