New ArchestrA Object Toolkit Simplifies Custom Object Development

The latest version of the ArchestrA Object Toolkit (AOT) is not just an update to the previous version. Instead Wonderware has completely re-engineered this toolkit, taking into account the requirements and requests for an easy to use product integrated with the latest development environment from Microsoft.

ArchestrA Object Toolkit 3.1 integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, and enables developers to rapidly configure and test custom designed ArchestrA Application Objects within the VS 2008 environment. By making use of the powerful C# language, the new ArchestrA Object Toolkit is a major improvement in usability and performance. Custom designed Visual Studio editor interfaces which understand the ArchestrA architecture mean that drag and drop object design is a reality. During development and testing, the ArchestrA Object Toolkit automates the building, creation and import process with your galaxy, saving many repetitive steps.

The ArchestrA Object Toolkit also offers:

  • Custom IDE configuration editors for new Application Objects
  • ArchestrA-aware IntelliSense
  • Debugging - step through and breakpoints
  • Application object packaging
  • Galaxy interface to create/update test objects

Users can now benefit by implementing their own custom ArchestrA objects, confident that their engineering investment with Wonderware will be justified. Intellectual Property (IP) is protected since the underlying source code is not delivered to end users, preventing modification of the underlying logic. Application Objects created with this toolkit are able to be easily integrated with the ArchestrA IDE as any other object. The use of the .NET architecture means that a large number of high quality engineers will be able to develop ArchestrA objects.
